EV Ready Plans
An EV Ready Plan is a professional strategy for your building to make at least one parking space per residential unit EV Ready; a comprehensive assessment of your building and proposal created by certified electrical contractor.
A complete EV Ready Plan consists of a electrical capacity calculation and your buildings 12 month BC Hydro history. With this information we can assess how much electricity your building is currently using and how much capacity your building has for EV chargers.
Along with the above assessment, we provide a proposal and costs for the electrical infrastructure and EV charger installation costs so that you can apply to BC Hydro for all the newest construction rebates worth up to $97,000.
Once the plan is completed we help you apply for the EV Ready Plan incentive online to receive up to $3,000 or 75% of the cost to create the EV Ready Plan.

Key Aspects of EV Ready Plans
Infrastructure Preparation:
EV Ready plans typically involve pre-installing electrical infrastructure like wiring, breaker space, and conduit to accommodate EV chargers, even if chargers aren't immediately installed. This can save significant costs in the long term, as it avoids the need to tear up walls or parking lots in the future.
Load Capacity Planning:
These plans account for increased electrical load from EV charging, ensuring that the electrical panel and capacity are sufficient to handle additional power requirements.
Regulatory Compliance:
Some municipalities, like Vancouver, require that new residential and commercial buildings meet certain standards for EV readiness, ensuring each parking space has access to a power source for EV charging.
In British Columbia, the provincial government has introduced policies like the "Zero-Emission Vehicles Act," which ties into the push for EV readiness as it aims for all new car sales to be zero-emission by 2040.
Incentives and Rebates:
Government and utility programs in BC offer financial incentives for making properties EV Ready. For example, BC Hydro and CleanBC provide rebates to cover some costs for both residential and commercial buildings undergoing EV charger installations.
Benefits to Property Owners:
Having EV Ready infrastructure can increase property values and attract tenants or buyers who own electric vehicles.
For commercial properties, offering EV charging can be a unique selling point and might become essential as EV adoption grows.
Installation by Certified Electricians:
Ensuring that EV Ready installations are done by licensed contractors, like Whitley Electric, guarantees the work is compliant, safe, and able to handle future EV infrastructure needs effectively.
Offering EV Ready services could tap into a growing market for sustainable infrastructure, positioning you as a forward-thinking contractor in the green tech space.
